Corset kit

Each CLIQD Pattern Kit contains a professionally-fitted block and a step-by-step guide.

This kit comes with:

• Block - 1 x A1 page
• Guide - 60-page A5 book (same for all sizes)

Or you can purchase the block and guide separately.

This block is for woven (non-stretch) fabrics and can be used to create:

• Corsets, or
• Corset-style dresses and tops

Corsets need to be smaller than the body's measurements so they can shape and support the torso.

FASHION VS. THEATRE

• Fashion corsets (runway and commercial) are designed to shape and support the torso.
• Theatrical corsets are more dramatic. Compressing the waist to create an hour-glass figure.

PICKING YOUR SIZE

• Fashion corsets are a full graded size smaller (ie 5cm / 2") at the bust, waist & hip. This is was the Size Guide recommends.
• Theatrical corsets are 7.5-12.5cm (3-5") smaller to accentuate the waist.
  

FIND YOUR SIZE (see image 3)

1. Select mannequin (a.k.a dress form) or fit model (i.e. person) you will fit your design on.
2. Measure bust (A), waist (B) and hip (C). Hip is 20 cm below waist.
3. Find size in the Body Measurement Chart (image 3 on the left) with the measurements closest to your bust, waist and hip measurements.
4. Compare Body & Block Measurement Charts for the size you have selected. Are you happy with the fit?

INBETWEEN SIZES

• Waist must be at least 5cm (2") smaller otherwise the corset will fall down.
• Bust & hip should be smaller but don't need to be the full 5cm (2") smaller.

MEASURING TIPS

• Make sure measuring tape is parallel to the floor.
• Take measurements against the skin (i.e. not over clothes).
• Measuring tape should sit firmly, but not too tight.
• Measure the bust at the fullest part of the chest and the waist at the narrowest part of the waist.
